Train Alliance provides this facility under a 25-year lease. The inauguration event showcased two new Vectron locomotives and provided attendees the opportunity to explore the premises with assistance from Siemens locomotive technicians.
Kristina Nyqvist, CEO of Siemens Mobility Sweden, and Johannes Emmelheinz, global CEO of Siemens Mobility, were present at the event. They discussed the significance of this new facility in Siemens' strategy, emphasising on-site maintenance capabilities, digitalisation, and high vehicle availability for the new generation of locomotives.
The workshop in Hallsberg near Sweden’s largest marshalling yard for freight traffic is equipped with advanced digital tools for efficient vehicle maintenance.
The workshop spans 1,220 sqm, and has two tracks and one storage track and space for four locomotives at its workstations. In addition to that, there is an outdoor storage capacity for six locomotives, with 15kV electrification for all tracks outdoors.
