Softronic Transmontana locomotive has been authorized for operation in Serbia, adding the country to the list of markets where these locomotives are permitted to run freight services. In parallel, testing of the Hitachi ETCS (European Train Control System) on rail networks in Romania, Hungary, and Slovakia has been completed.
Authorization for Serbia
The LEMA 480-083 Constantin Grup locomotive has completed the required authorization process in Serbia. With this approval, Serbia becomes the fifth country where Transmontana locomotives are cleared for operation, following Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Sweden. The locomotives will now be able to operate on the Serbian rail network, expanding the service reach of operators using this model.
Transmontana locomotives are equipped with asynchronous traction motors and designed for freight operations across various European rail networks. Their deployment in Serbia is expected to support cross-border logistics between Central and Southeastern Europe.
ETCS Testing in Multiple Countries
Testing of the Hitachi ETCS system on Transmontana locomotives has concluded in Romania, Hungary, and Slovakia. ETCS, the European standard for train control and signaling, is gradually being introduced to rail networks to ensure interoperability and increase automation in train operations.
The completed tests indicate the locomotives' compliance with the system's operational requirements, ensuring compatibility with modern rail traffic management technologies. ETCS integration is becoming a key requirement for locomotives operating across borders in Europe, aligning with the broader modernization of rail infrastructure.
