The Czech manufacturer’s bid was selected ahead of Pesa, according to Polish procurement reporting.

CZ LOKO has won a PKP Intercity tender for 18 diesel shunting locomotives in Poland, while also competing for up to 55 electric-battery shunters for SBB Cargo in Switzerland.

The Polish locomotives, EffiShunters 1000, are intended for shunting work with passenger stock across PKP Intercity facilities in Poland. The tender follows PKP Intercity’s earlier procurement of 10 CZ LOKO two-axle diesel shunters (EffiShunters 300), designated SM60 in Poland.

In Switzerland, CZ LOKO is also bidding in an SBB Cargo procurement for up to 55 dual shunting locomotives combining electric traction and battery operation. The vehicles would replace older Am 843 diesel locomotives and cover shunting as well as single wagonload operations.
