The list of smaller German operators running new EuroDual locomotives grows steadily. The latest addition is the Nordic Rail Service (NRS), providing mainly shunting, last mile and short to medium block trains from the port of Lübeck in the north of Germany.
Through this step, NRS will be able to operate more ecologically and flexibly, thanks to the dual power of the locomotive, keeping the power needed for heavy NRS trains weighing between 1,200 to 3,500 tonnes. The company mostly relied on the Voith Maxima locomotives for heavy haul, but soon, two new horses will be in the LHG stable. NRS, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, will use them for Norddeutsche Naturstein, a long-standing customer, moving construction materials.
Unlike many other smaller customers, LHG is buying Stadler EuroDuals into its property. Much more locomotives of this type are leased from European Loc Pool (ELP). Over the last week, NeS and HVLE have announced the intention to lease an additional locomotive each.
