Alstom’s reorganization comes as part of its effort to streamline operations and adapt to the demands of its growing presence across these key European markets.

Alstom has announced plans to restructure its regional operations in Europe by merging the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) with the Nordics cluster (Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland) starting in January 2025. This move follows the company's acquisition of Bombardier Transportation and reflects the evolving role of the DACH region in supporting export markets, particularly the Nordics.

Germany has played a crucial role in supplying rolling stock to Nordic countries, with half of the production from German facilities being exported to this region. This includes major projects like Sweden’s C30 Stockholm Metro, Norway’s Norske Tog 05 trains, and Denmark’s IC5 for DSB.

In preparation for the merger, Tim Dawidowsky has been appointed as President of the new DACH-Nordics region, effective October 1, 2024. Dawidowsky, based in Berlin, will oversee the transition and lead the combined region, while the current DACH President, Müslüm Yakisan, will remain until the end of October to ensure a smooth handover.
