The plant, located in Radom, spans approximately 5,000 square meters and is equipped to manufacture components for railway traffic control, including level crossing systems and interlocking systems. These devices are currently in operation at over 300 railway stations across Poland.
The facility integrates energy-efficient technologies such as a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 200 kW, a 60-kW energy storage unit, and an intelligent energy management system. The production site’s weekly capacity includes eight level crossing systems and 6-10 interlocking systems, with testing periods varying based on station size.
This investment forms part of Kombud Group’s broader infrastructure development program, which has seen multiple expansions since 2020. These include the establishment of a production hall, the construction of a 2,500-square-meter telecommunications container production unit, and the launch of a robotic balise production line in Warsaw. In total, the company now operates over 22,000 square meters of office and production space.
Kombud has been delivering rail traffic control solutions in Poland for the past 33 years. Now the company eyes international expansion. With 65 systems and devices certified in Poland and European Union, the company has 18 valid patent claims and employs 610 personnel, including 330 engineers. It is active in railway traffic control and management, metro systems and rolling stock automation from design to implementation.
All of its products are developed and made by own engineers with full control of process and quality from design to manufacturing. This includes software writing, making prototypes and testing before installation. This integrated supply chain enables resilience towards the market fluctuations that have disrupted the timely deliveries of railway technology in Europe over the recent years.
