Granaagro Deutschland has leased 70 grain wagons from Swiss lessor Wascosa for use in international grain transport.
The wagons are intended for regular grain traffic between France and Switzerland. Since 6 January 2026, TR Trans Rail has been operating grain services on behalf of Granaagro from France to UFA terminals in Herzogenbuchsee and Sursee, with trains planned on a weekly basis depending on demand.
The grain originates from the Burgundy region in France. Europorte handles traction on the French network, while TR Trans Rail takes over operations at the French–Swiss border near Basel and provides onward haulage within Switzerland. Locomotive handover takes place at Basel marshalling yard before the train continues to its Swiss destinations.
Technical inspection of the leased wagons was carried out by Railnet and completed according to schedule, despite winter weather conditions. Granaagro states that the additional wagon capacity is intended to support operational flexibility and planning reliability for its rail-based grain logistics.
