The initial order includes 15 locomotives along with an eight-year full-service contract, with an option for an additional 35 units and an extended service period.

Northrail, in cooperation with its parent company RIVE Private Investment, has entered into a framework agreement with Siemens Mobility for the acquisition of up to 50 Vectron locomotives.

Under the agreement, Siemens Mobility will provide fleet monitoring and maintenance support via its Railigent X application suite. The contract builds on an existing collaboration between Siemens Mobility and Northrail, which previously included the delivery of Vectron Dual Mode locomotives.

Northrail manages a rolling stock portfolio for leasing across European markets, supporting freight and passenger operators with flexible locomotive solutions. The latest order aligns with its ongoing fleet expansion strategy, increasing the availability of interoperable electric locomotives for cross-border operations.

Siemens Mobility reports that more than 2,600 locomotives from the Vectron family have been delivered to 103 customers across 16 countries, with homologation in 20 European nations. The fleet has collectively surpassed one billion kilometres in operation.

The signing of this agreement coincided with the handover of the 40th Vectron Dual Mode locomotive from the companies’ previous contract.
