The manufacturer will deliver at least 20 more EffiShunters 1000 to Sweden.

CZ LOKO is currently producing five EffiShunters 1000 for Trainpoint Norway and nine more for Railcare AB. In addition to these two orders, the company announced in its company newsletter that it has contracted at least 20 additional locomotives in Sweden and more are under negotiations for the years 2025 to 2028.

These high-cab diesel locomotives are currently undergoing an approval process to run on the Swedish rail network, which should be finished in Q1 2024. CZ LOKO hopes to replicate the success of this locomotive type that it has experienced in Italy on the Swedish territory.

Due to late or incomplete deliveries, the manufacturer switched its supplier of ETCS from Alstom to CAF, which will also apply to EffiShunters 1000 made in 2024. In addition to Sweden, the company will deliver these locomotives to Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania in 2024.

DualShunter 2000 – a new flagship

Apart from the deep modernisation of older locomotives, CZ LOKO intends to increase the share of newly built locomotives in the future. And, as with any other rolling stock manufacturer in Europe, it bets on hybrids.

The new flagship locomotive, DualShunter 2000 is a DC electric (2.2 MW) and diesel (895 kW) high-cab locomotive. Its primary market is Italy, where Mercitalia ordered two (+2 in option) locomotives. But there is more. The company has signed or is under negotiation for over 10 DualShunter 2000 locomotives in Italy, which will soon be approved for operation in this country.

The new focus for this locomotive type is the second large European DC market – Poland. CZ LOKO intends to get this locomotive approved in Poland (and Czechia) too. At the same time, it is developing the AC version of DualShunter, which should enter central and western European markets around 2027.
