Deutsche Bahn (DB) passengers can now experience the modern interior design of the 17th ICE 3neo, heralding a new era in high-speed travel comfort. This redesigned ICE train features a number of innovations, with a focus on a complete overhaul of the passenger experience. The redesigned seating areas provide travelers with a personal retreat, with improved adjustability and an enhanced sense of comfort.
Key features of the new interior design include the use of modern materials such as wood accents and 85 percent wool upholstery, selected in a palette of finely nuanced colors. First-class passengers will enjoy warm shades of grey, while the second-class cabin will have a blue ambiance, and the onboard restaurant will feature a rich burgundy-red color scheme. Passenger functionality is also enhanced by the integration of tablet holders and coat hooks in the backrest of each seat. This design change is part of DB's strategy to renew its train fleet and to increase the convenience and comfort of long-distance travel.
Michael Peterson, DB Board Member for Long-Distance Passenger Transport, emphasized the significance of this interior redesign, stating: “The ICE is a modern design icon and the flagship of our long-distance passenger fleet. Everyone knows the trains with the distinctive red stripe. Now, by introducing a new interior design, we are also taking long-distance travel to a new level of comfort. With specially developed seats, greater privacy, and a refined material and color concept, we are offering our passengers a living room atmosphere and comfort at 300 km/h.”
The new interior design will soon extend across the entire DB travel experience, from DB Travel Centers and DB Lounges to the ICE 3Neo, DB's long-distance flagship. An additional 73 trains with the same interior design are scheduled for delivery by 2028. “With our delivery of 90 trains, we are supplying a large part of DB’s long-distance transport capacity” commented Michael Peter, CEO of Siemens Mobility.
