ÖBB continues its growth on an international basis. Its next big step is German regional traffic.

ÖBB-Personenverkehr signed a partnership agreement with Go-Ahead Deutschland, taking over the regional traffic of this operator from the British Go-Ahead Group. Go-Ahead Deutschland will keep operating as an independent company without changing its timetable, or management. It shall keep its existing contracts until the end of the contractual period and ÖBB then plans to develop it further. The agreement is subject to regulatory approvals but is expected to be still closed in 2023.

After Rail Cargo Group and ÖBB’s night trains and international connections, this is another step in the company’s growth abroad. Go-Ahead’s operations in southern Germany - Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg - operate 144 electric multiple units in these regions.
