The Portuguese passenger rail operator has finalised its agreement with Alstom to procure 117 new EMUs.

Comboios de Portugal (CP) is proceeding with its much-needed rolling stock renewal. On 28 November 2023, it announced a tender winner for 62 trains for urban and 55 for regional service. Alstom is the winning bidder of a project that started in 2021.

Introducing these new units into CP's fleet will enhance service efficiency, comfort, and frequency. Apart from Alstom, Stadler will deliver ten electric and 12 bimodal (diesel and electric) FLIRT trains to the operator.
