The Swiss operator will use the locomotives for end-to-end solutions of its owner, retail company Coop.

European Loc Pool (ELP) has signed an agreement to lease 3 Euro9000 locomotives to railCare AG, which runs trains distributing goods for the retail shops chain Coop in Switzerland. All three locomotives will be delivered between October and December 2024.

railCare uses locomotives to pull intermodal platforms and modern self-unloading solutions for swap bodies for easy transloading onto trucks for last-mile deliveries, all within one country. It has been a part of the Coop Group since 2010. Three new locomotives will strengthen the fleet of the current nine locomotives (mostly Vectrons).

The news comes shortly after the successful approval of the Stadler Euro9000 locomotive approval in Switzerland, obtained at the beginning of November 2023.
