EP Logistics International (EPLI) is strengthening its position in the German market by acquiring SGL to enter the promising railway construction logistics market.

EPLI will buy a 100% stake in SGL from Knape Gruppe, which founded the construction logistics company in 2007. With 100 employees, SGL-Schienen Güter Logistik GmbH provides freight transportation and construction logistics. For EPLI, this is a lucrative market, as many of the infrastructure projects are now underway or on the horizon.

SGL delivers machinery, wagons and material needed for construction sites managed from Dachau in Bavaria. It does so mainly with three Voith Maxima locomotives and, most recently, purchased four Vossloh Gravita 10BB locomotives. The company has 24 diesel locomotives and numerous wagons in its fleet.

EPLI has a strong presence in Germany. Companies such as LOCON and EP Cargo Deutschland are also a part of the group. At the beginning of August, EPLI appointed Jan Elfenhorst to chair and manage the German brands, also becoming the Director for European Rail Strategy at EPLI.
