Spain: Renfe Mercancías with a new reefer service between the port of Algeciras and Madrid

Renfe Mercancías has launched a new reefer container service between the port of Algeciras on the south coast and Madrid. The service will be carried out once a week initially and is expected to reach three frequencies a week over the next few months. Fruits and vegetables that arrive at the Andalusian port on Maersk ships will be transferred to the Abroñigal freight terminal in Madrid by rail before being moved to trucks to complete the "last mile" of the journey. The train will then continue its journey to the Galician port of Marín, a service that has been running for two years already.

Germany/Italy: TX Logistik starts the intermodal connection of Duisburg and Padua

TX Logistik, FS Group’s Logistics Center subsidiary, is expanding its intermodal transport network by launching a new connection between Duisburg and Padua, as RailMarket reported earlier last week. The service will run for 4x a week, and TX Logistik will control the new service.

Italy: Hupac launches Busto Arsizio – Padova Interporto feeder service

Starting April 18th, a new feeder train service will run between Busto Arsizio and Padova Interporto. The new service aims to connect two of Europe's most important intermodal terminals, the Busto Arsizio terminal, managed by Hupac SpA and the Interporto di Padova terminal, managed by Interporto di Padova SpA. The new shuttle net service will have several weekly departures, and customers will benefit from important synergies with national and international trains offered to and from these terminals.

Croatia/Hungary: RCG with a new connection Rijeka – Budapest

The ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is expanding its nationwide TransNET with a new fast and reliable transport solution between the northern Adriatic and Hungary. The new TransFER will provide a direct network connection without a stopover for maritime flows of goods between Budapest and Rijeka. Read more about this news in a dedicated RailMarket article.

Spain: Pecovasa with new services to Valencia and Barcelona for Stellantis

Pecovasa, a Renfe Operadora Group company specialising in automobile transportation, has launched two new rail services for Stellantis with the ports of Valencia and Barcelona. The Valencia service will be run twice a week, mainly transporting vehicles from the Villaverde factory in Madrid destined for export. The trains will get the return load in the port of Valencia with imported vehicles to Madrid. Pecovasa is the main rail supplier for Groupe CAT in the Iberian Peninsula and has been entrusted with traffic for the port of Barcelona. Captrain Espana serves as traction for this service.

Australia: Aurizon launches containerized Adelaide – Perth service

Aurizon has announced its first linehaul services delivery for Team Global Express (TGE) this week. With a double-header train leaving Adelaide for the 3000+ kilometre transcontinental journey via Adelaide to Perth, the TGE contract signals Aurizon's expansion in the containerised freight business. The 11-year national contract with TGE will see Aurizon delivering rail linehaul services for TGE, connecting Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
