Introduction to railway industry in Serbia
The first rail line in Serbia was opened on 20 August 1854 between Lisava-Oravica-Bazijaš. In March 2015, a plan was introduced to establish three additional railway companies, splitting the Serbian Railways in separate businesses: Srbija Voz (passenger transport), Srbija Kargo (cargo transport) and Serbian Railways Infrastructure (infrastructure). Total rail length is 3 739 km. The track gauge is 1 435 mm.
