From signal learning to vehicle security, these innovative software solutions empower railway staff, improve efficiency and ensure compliance.

EDITH GmbH & Co. KG, a software development company based in Heide, Germany, is dedicated to being a partner to railway companies by providing practical solutions to streamline daily operational tasks. Recognizing the importance of efficient railway operations, EDITH has developed several apps that support training, enhance operational efficiency,  improve operational efficiency, and ensure compliance.

One of the key apps developed by EDITH is the Signal App, which focuses on helping railway staff learn and understand the various signals used in their work. The app is designed in two parts. Firstly, it allows users to learn specific signals or signal groups, providing comprehensive information on their meanings and applications. EDITH's app groups signals based on their operational application, making it easier for learners to grasp their practical implications.

The second part of the Signal App focuses on the actions and expectations of train drivers when they encounter signals along the track. The app presents signals in their complete configurations and prompts users to identify the appropriate actions or expectations associated with each signal. By incorporating practical examples and scenarios, the app helps users develop the knowledge and skills necessary for their railway operations.

Another notable app developed by EDITH is the "Securing Trains BreVo Act 10" app, which is designed to assist railway operations staff in effectively securing trains. The app addresses the new braking regulations, which include significant changes to the way vehicles are secured. Previously, operators were required to carry large securing tables with them at all times. However, the app simplifies this process by guiding users through a series of steps. Users enter specific parameters such as the type of securing method (e.g. wheel chocks or parking brakes), the weight or axles of the train, the gradient of the track, and the type of air brake used. Based on this information, the application calculates the appropriate holding force or determines the number of restraints required. This functionality ensures that vehicles are properly secured according to regulations while streamlining the process for railway staff.

The "Securing Trains BreVo Act 10" app has gained significant popularity, with over 5,000 downloads and positive feedback from users across the railway industry. Its ability to speed up the securing process, ensure compliance and provide accurate calculations has proved invaluable in day-to-day operations.
