In the Chicagoland area, Metra has unveiled its holiday-themed trains starting from November 17. These trains, adorned with red and green lights and playing holiday tunes, are a part of Metra's initiative to add a festive touch to regular services. Metra CEO Jim Derwinski expressed his excitement about bringing holiday joy to commuters' daily routines. Additionally, these trains will feature unique holiday rides with Santa and Mrs. Claus, though tickets for these events are already sold out.
Meanwhile, the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its Holiday Train program. Starting November 20, the brightly lit train will journey across Canada and the U.S., promoting the spirit of giving and supporting communities struggling with food insecurity.
CPKC President Keith Creel highlighted the program's significance in bringing communities together and aiding local food banks. Since its inception in 1999, the Holiday Train has impressively raised over five million pounds of food and more than $22.5 million for food banks.
These initiatives by Metra and CPKC embody the true spirit of the holiday season, spreading cheer and support to communities across North America. Will European railways get inspired?
