The order of the two different versions includes an option for 142 more of these locomotives.

Railpool has secured an order for its first high-cab and shunting locomotives to boost its fleet. It is also the first order of locomotives with combustion engines for Railpool. On 20 October 2023, the Munich-based locomotives leasing company ordered 45 Modula locomotives from Vossloh Rolling Stock in two different versions:

  • Battery and diesel (BDD) with 1MW power output
  • Electric and diesel (EDD) with 2.5 MW power output under catenary and 1MW in diesel mode

Locomotives for the German and Dutch markets will be delivered between mid-2026 and the end of 2027. The order includes an option for 142 locomotives, with their delivery by mid-2029. Locomotives will be offered under full-service leasing contracts.

Vossloh Rolling Stock has large orders of Modula locomotives already. DB Cargo ordered 50 (option for 200 more), and leasing company Northrail also ordered 50. Smaller orders came from the Port of Duisburg, IGE Bahn, Schweerbau, and Rail Force One
