The dual-power locomotive will feature specific technical approvals for operation in Slovakia and the Czech Republic alongside existing DACH region certification.

RailAdventure has signed a contract with Siemens Mobility for one Vectron Dual Mode locomotive scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2026. The unit will support the operator’s specialized transport and test run business across Central Europe. This acquisition follows the platform's initial presentation at InnoTrans 2018 and targets a reduction in traction changes on partially electrified networks.

The locomotive operates on 15 kV AC electrification and features a 2,400 kW diesel engine for non-electrified sections. It delivers 2,400 kW of traction power at the wheel in electric mode and 2,000 kW in diesel mode. The design includes a 2,600-liter fuel tank, a service weight of 90 tonnes, and a maximum speed of 160 km/h.

Siemens Mobility will manufacture the unit at its Munich-Allach plant. While the model currently holds approvals for Germany and Austria, this specific order includes the ETCS train control system and technical specifications required for future expansion into the Czech and Slovak markets. RailAdventure currently operates a diverse fleet of specialized rolling stock for locomotive and passenger car deliveries across the European standard-gauge network.
