The VTG wagon, manufactured at Waggonbau Graaff, features a tank volume of 106 m³ and is constructed using stress-relieved P400NGJ4 material. It is designed to handle a minimum filling temperature of -40°C.
Technical parameters
The new wagon type is 17.09 metres long over buffers and has a tare weight of 34,420 kilograms. It is classified with tank code P26BH. Thermal insulation is supported by an external sunshield, and the braking system includes a floor-operated parking brake to support ground-level handling.
The bogie configuration is based on the Y25 Lsd-1-KP1 model, a type used across several freight wagon types to ensure consistent ride quality and operational stability.
Loading and unloading configuration
Loading and unloading systems are integrated with components developed by Waggonbau Graaff. These include a bottom valve, a hydraulic pump, and side valves for managing liquid and gas phase transfers. These components are positioned to support safe handling during operations involving ammonia, which is classified as a hazardous substance under RID regulations.
The delivery of these wagons begins a new operational phase for VTG’s customers in ammonia logistics, as demand for dedicated chemical tank wagons continues across European industrial corridors.
