ORLEN Unipetrol Doprava, a Czech rail freight operator within the ORLEN Unipetrol group, has integrated its eighth Siemens Vectron MS locomotive into its fleet as part of an ongoing modernization strategy.
The Vectron locomotives will be primarily utilized on international routes connecting the Czech Republic with Poland, Germany, Slovakia, Austria, and Hungary. The addition aligns with the company’s broader goals of reducing CO2 emissions, complementing ORLEN Unipetrol’s commitment to decreasing carbon emissions by 25% by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
Since the start of its modernization efforts in 2017, ORLEN Unipetrol Doprava has invested heavily in fleet updates to reinforce its standing in the Czech rail freight market. These Vectron locomotives feature European Train Control System (ETCS) capabilities, GSM-R, and remote diagnostics to bolster operational safety and reliability. They are also equipped with passive safety features designed to enhance protection for drivers in the event of unexpected incidents.
ORLEN Unipetrol Doprava is a key player in Czech rail freight, handling transports both within neighboring countries and extending into the Benelux and Balkan regions. Its services span chemical product transport, freight forwarding, railcar leasing, maintenance, and consulting. The company’s clients include both internal members of the ORLEN group and external partners, such as major rail forwarders and chemical plants.
