As published in the Official Journal of the European Union, DB Fernverkehr is looking for new high-speed rolling stock with trials planned for 2031.

Based on the tender information, DB will commit to buying at least 33 out of a maximum of 95 new high-speed trains. They should be 400 m long, achieve a speed of at least 300 km/h, and be approved for operation in Germany and the Basel station in Switzerland.

DB can order trains from this framework agreement by the end of 2040, while the first two trial trainsets should be available in 2031. The maximum amount of vehicles delivered per year should be fourteen.
