This move is aimed at facilitating the efficient construction of the CPK spokes, or the railway lines leading to the planned airport.

Central Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) has acquired a controlling stake in Torpol, a Polish company specializing in modernizing and constructing railway infrastructure, to facilitate the efficient construction of the CPK spokes. These spokes refer to the railway lines leading to the planned airport, and CPK's acquisition of Torpol is expected to reduce the contractor shortage risk during the implementation of the ambitious railway investment program. The agreement involves CPK acquiring a 38% controlling stake in Torpol from Towarzystwo Finansowe Silesia, its former largest shareholder. Torpol has multi-disciplinary experience in the railway, road, and enclosed building sectors, and has previously constructed Łódź Fabryczna station.

“The most important benefit of today's transaction is the reduction in the contractor shortage risk during the implementation of this ambitious CPK railway investment programme.  We have conducted the transaction in accordance with the best market standards. It was subjected to a profitability analysis and received a positive private investor test result, as a result of which we purchased one of the most important construction companies in Poland," said Mikołaj Wild, CEO of CPK.

CPK plans to construct 10 spokes, each leading from different regions of Poland to Warsaw and the new airport. This will result in approximately 2,000 km of new railway lines. The company is already developing feasibility studies for more than 1,500 km of these lines. CPK has investor variants for the 140-kilometer section of the High-Speed Rail between Warsaw and Łódź, the 200-km section between Łódź and Wrocław, the 40 km in the Rzeszów area, and the 70 km section between Katowice and Ostrava. The company plans to start work this year on the construction of a 5km long tunnel in the Łódź Fabryczna area.
