This new venture aims to connect transportation between Ukraine and European countries, paving the way for Ukrzaliznytsia's entry into the European rail freight sector.

JSC Ukrzaliznytsia has taken a significant step towards integrating Ukraine's rail freight system into the European space by registering Ukrainian Railways Cargo Poland LLC in Warsaw, Poland. This future European operator will facilitate transport connections between Ukraine and European countries, marking Ukrzaliznytsia's entry into the European market.

"We are integrating the system of freight rail transportation of Ukraine into the European space and are starting to build a full-fledged freight transportation operator on the territory of the European Union. The main principles of our international division will be close relations with foreign partners, transparency, and competition to ensure a worthy representation of Ukrzaliznytsia in the international arena," said Yevhen Liashchenko, Chairman of the Board of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia.

In the initial phase of its operation, Ukrainian Railways Cargo Poland will provide comprehensive freight services, coordinating with European operators, cargo owners, and border crossings. The company will effectively handle 1435 and 1520 gauge rolling stock, ensuring smooth logistics processes and full control of rolling stock abroad.

The creation of this company is in line with Ukrzaliznytsia's strategy to increase freight traffic between Ukraine and the European Union and to provide door-to-door transport services. Vyacheslav Yeryomin, a Member of the Board of Directors of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, emphasized the importance of this development in achieving the company's long-term goals in freight transport. The company reported a 32% increase in freight traffic in June 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, amounting to 12.4 million tonnes. This figure also represents an 8% increase compared to May.
