Ermewa has appointed Svenja Verheyen as Sales Area Manager DACH, with responsibility for the company’s commercial activities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. She took over the role in mid-March, succeeding Bernhard Hoffmann, who moved into the position of Chief Commercial Officer earlier this year.
The appointment follows a broader management reshuffle at Ermewa and parent group Streem, as the company strengthens its commercial organisation in key European markets. The DACH region remains one of the most important areas for rail freight wagon leasing, particularly in intermodal and industrial transport.
Verheyen joins the role with experience from both rail freight and intermodal logistics. Most recently, she worked in strategic business development at HHLA Next. Before that, she held a number of commercial and leadership roles at VTG, including responsibilities in intermodal sales.
In a statement, Verheyen said the rail freight sector is undergoing significant change, pointing to digitalisation and the continued strengthening of intermodal transport chains as key themes. She said her focus would be on supporting customers in the DACH region and helping to further expand Ermewa’s market position.
Bernhard Hoffmann said the company had moved quickly to fill the position and described Verheyen as a well-connected industry professional with strong experience in the intermodal market.
Founded in 1956, Ermewa is one of Europe’s leading freight railcar leasing companies, with a fleet of around 50,000 wagons and a network of more than 270 experts across 14 countries. As part of the Streem Group, the company is positioning itself to respond to growing demand for flexible wagon solutions in an increasingly digital and interconnected European freight market.
