The two transactions expand Contargo’s intermodal rail network in north-west Europe and extend its reach to the Adriatic ports and Southeast Europe.

Contargo acquired PortShuttle Rotterdam’s shares and activities on 1 January 2026 and, on the same date, took a 50 percent stake in Cargo-Center-Graz Logistik GmbH (CCGL) in Graz.

PortShuttle Rotterdam has been part of the Contargo network for several years, with Contargo playing an operational role in its train services. Since the end of 2025, Contargo has also taken over train management for PortShuttle. The acquisition brings PortShuttle’s terminal rail operations in the Port of Rotterdam fully under Contargo’s control.

In Austria, Contargo’s entry into CCGL links its network with Cargo Terminal Graz, which functions as a logistics hub for block trains to southern ports. CCGL organises rail services between Graz and the Adriatic, as well as pre-carriage and on-carriage by road, and carries out operational planning and dispatch.

CCGL currently operates one weekly round trip between Koper, Bilk and Enns; four weekly round trips between Koper and Graz, with an increase to six planned in 2026; and two weekly round trips between Graz and Enns. The services connect Austrian and German industrial regions with the Port of Koper and other southern gateways.

The partnership includes plans to link the Graz hub directly to the Contargo rail network during 2026, initially via the Frankfurt–Wörth region. Alongside containers, trailer transport is planned on the Adriatic corridors, and additional Adriatic ports are to be integrated into the Graz hub as part of the long-term cooperation.
