The terminal is located in Friuli Venezia Giulia and serves regional industrial traffic as well as connections to national and cross-border logistics flows.

Interporto Pordenone has signed an agreement with private rail freight operator InRail covering the management of the Pordenone Intermodal Terminal, following Hupac’s exit, Uomini e Trasporti reports.

The agreement assigns operational management of the intermodal terminal to InRail and sets the framework for developing rail freight services at the site. At the moment, the management is signed for a year with another half-a-year extension option.

The management arrangement is intended to increase utilisation of the existing terminal infrastructure and improve the organisation of rail freight flows, especially towards eastern Europe. InRail operates rail freight services across Italy and on international corridors, including links to Northern Adriatic ports and central European destinations.

The agreement places the Pordenone terminal within InRail’s operational network and provides the basis for expanding intermodal rail services in the Northeast of Italy.
