METRANS signs MoU to introduce full schedule train service between Xi’an and Budapest

METRANS described the corridor as a gateway for “Silk Road” customers into Central and Eastern Europe via its network.

On 21 October in Budapest, METRANS signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Beijing Trans Eurasia and Xi’an International Port to advance a full‑schedule train service along the corridor between Xi’an (China) and Budapest (Hungary).

The agreement establishes the following key commitments:

  • Delivery of a reliable, fixed‑timetable transit service on the Xi’an - Budapest route.
  • Enhanced operational coordination across borders to support the corridor flow.
  • More stable rail services from China into Central Europe leveraging METRANS’ hubs in Małaszewicze (Poland) and Budapest.
