The acquisition aims to strengthen Alstom’s services in locomotive maintenance, modernization, and accident repairs.

Alstom announced it acquired Reuschling GmbH & Co. KG, effective February 1, 2024. Reuschling, based in Hattingen, North Rhine-Westphalia, specialises in maintenance and repair services for shunting locomotives and has about 120 employees.

Reuschling has experience in various maintenance tasks for shunting locomotives and is involved in projects to update locomotive technology. The company also works on alternative propulsion systems for locomotives, remote control operations, and digital couplings.

François Muller, who leads Alstom’s service business in the DACH region, mentioned that Reuschling’s location and its connection to major transport routes were key reasons for the acquisition. Before this acquisition, Alstom’s shunting locomotive services in Germany were located in Stendal, Saxony-Anhalt, and Waibstadt, Baden-Württemberg.

With the completion of this acquisition, Reuschling will now operate under the name Alstom Reuschling Service GmbH & Co. KG and will function as a subsidiary of Alstom Lokomotiven Service GmbH.
