The acquisition allows Railcare to supply, install and support the system directly.

Railcare has acquired the rights to a radio control system for locomotives from Swedish developer Traversteknik, expanding its in-house technology portfolio.

The radio control system has been deployed by Railcare for several years under a cooperation agreement with Traversteknik. Ownership of the technology transfers responsibility for product development, installation, service and aftermarket support to Railcare’s technology operations.

The system’s developer, Hans Sonesson, will continue to work with the technology as a technical expert at Railcare. Sonesson is known in the Nordic rail sector for his work on locomotive control and onboard systems.

Railcare states that the system is designed to be compatible with most standard locomotive types and can be transferred between locomotives if a vehicle is sold or taken out of service. Locomotive types currently equipped with the system include MZ, T66, T44, RC, Vossloh G6 and T68 (Euro 4000).

According to Railcare, the radio control solution is used primarily for shunting, maintenance and other operational tasks where remote operation reduces the need for staff to work close to moving vehicles. The company will provide service and support through its Swedish-based organisation.
