The supplies of braking systems developed and designed in India will span for a period of 11 years.

Wabtec Corporation has received a $157 million order from Siemens India Private Limited's Mobility Business for brake systems. This order is part of the 9000HP locomotive project for Indian Railways, involving the production of 1,200 electric locomotives. The brake systems will be supplied by Wabtec's Hosur plant over 11 years, and Wabtec will also provide maintenance services for 35 years.

Siemens will assemble these locomotives at the Indian Railways factory located in Dahod, Gujarat, India. The braking systems, known as the ILS series, are developed and designed in India. These systems aim to enhance operating performance, efficiency, and safety for the new locomotives.

The contract strengthens Wabtec's position as a key brake system supplier for Indian Railway and metro projects. Wabtec’s Transit business in India is equipped to produce various subsystems including brake systems, pantographs, couplers, air-conditioning systems, and passenger access doors. Wabtec's engineering teams in Hosur and Bangalore will offer technical and service support for these projects.
