The order includes two locomotives already in use and available for immediate deployment, two new-build units, and one previously used by Siemens for testing, which is scheduled for delivery in September 2026.

GTS Rail has signed a new contract with Siemens Mobility for the supply of five Vectron MS locomotives, bringing its total fleet to 53 units, Ferpress informs.

This follows the initial cooperation between the two companies established in 2020. GTS Rail, part of the GTS Holding group, currently operates over 140 trains weekly and holds one of the largest privately owned locomotive fleets in Italy. It ranks among the top three national rail freight operators by traffic volume.

The multi-system locomotives are configured for international operations, and GTS Rail holds safety certifications for Switzerland, Germany, and the Netherlands. From January 2026, the company will launch seven weekly services on the Milan–Rotterdam corridor. The expansion is part of a broader network extension, including recent additions such as Verona–Bari, Parma–Bari, Trieste–Padua, and Pescara–Verona connections.
