The event coincided with the tenth anniversary of the company’s first Transmontana acquisition.

CER Hungary has taken delivery of a new Transmontana locomotive, designated 610-105, at a ceremony held on January 31, 2025. The locomotive, produced by Softronic, will be deployed in rail freight operations across Hungary, Romania, and Slovakia.

The Transmontana series, known for its 6 MW power output, is part of CER’s ongoing fleet expansion. The newly delivered locomotive is equipped with the European Train Control System (ETCS), designed to meet operational and safety requirements on international rail corridors, including the Belgrade-Budapest route.

CER plans to introduce another Transmontana locomotive in spring 2025, further expanding its fleet. Additionally, the company is preparing for operations in Austria and Germany, which will require international type approvals for its locomotives. The collaboration with Softronic aims to align these locomotives with technical and regulatory standards across European and non-EU markets.
