Hamburg-based rail vehicle leasing provider Northrail has entered into a long-term rental agreement with Swedish railway company ProTrain Trafik. The cooperation involves leasing four Gravita 10 center-cab locomotives and four DE 18 Stage V locomotives equipped with ETCS.
The first Gravita 10 locomotive was delivered to ProTrain on December 30, 2024, with the remaining three scheduled for handover on March 1, 2025. These center-cab locomotives will be used for rail replacement services in Sweden.
In addition to the Gravita 10 units, ProTrain has leased four DE 18 locomotives featuring Stage V engines and ETCS. The DE 18 locomotives are part of a larger purchase agreement that Northrail and its parent company, Rive Private Investment, arranged with Vossloh Rolling Stock in October 2024. This agreement includes a firm order for 10 DE 18 locomotives, with an option for additional units.
