The Switzerland-based international operator is the premiering customer for this type of Vectron locomotives.

In a recent event at Bahnpark Augsburg, SBB Cargo International showcased ten newly acquired Siemens Vectron A40 XLoad locomotives. These locomotives, part of the 1500th production milestone from Siemens Mobility's Allach factory, will be integrated into SBB Cargo International's operations within the next few weeks.

The Vectron locomotives, leased through a long-term contract with SüdLeasing, are tailored for versatile operations across several European countries, including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The lease agreement also includes a 15-year maintenance package provided by Siemens Mobility, ensuring consistent performance throughout the contract's duration.

These locomotives are designed to serve the Alpine-Rhine corridor, a critical route for European rail freight. The new fleet addition highlights the ongoing collaboration between SBB Cargo International, Siemens Mobility, and SüdLeasing GmbH, which has been strengthened over years of partnership. Recently, the operator increased the number of locomotives on order from 20 to 40.
