The Polish freight rail carrier, Rail STM, has decided to buy four more Newag Dragon 2 locomotives from the Nowy Sacz manufacturer. After the delivery of the first two locomotives in 2021, there will be four more with a start of deliveries in 2025.
Worth more than EUR 17.3 million, these locomotives will come with a 2-year quality warranty and this time, they will be in both DC and MS (3 kV DC / 25kV AC) voltage systems.
Rail STM predominantly transports coal within Poland, and with MS locomotives, an expansion abroad can be expected. Rail STM predominantly hauls heavy bulk and steel, holding 1.75% of the market share in Poland.
