The agreement also includes ongoing maintenance responsibilities in the years following the overhaul.

At the end of November 2023, Akiem and Talbot Services agreed to a contract to overhaul 23 Alstom Traxx MS2e locomotives, which is set to take place in 2024.

Talbot Services, established in 1838 and based in Aachen, Germany, specialises in the maintenance, repair, and general overhaul of rail vehicles and their subsystems. Akiem chose Talbot Services to overhaul its Traxx BR186 locomotives, citing Talbot’s experience and maintenance operations. The teams at Talbot Services in Aachen will conduct the overhaul work. In parallel, Akiem Maintenance & Services will handle maintenance engineering and supply parts and overhauled components.

The contract between Akiem and Talbot Services includes performance guarantees covering overhaul reliability and turnaround times for each locomotive.

This agreement marks a step for Akiem in its efforts to enhance its industrial capacities and expand its range of rolling-stock maintenance services in Europe. The company aims to ensure its rail operator clients receive reliable and operationally available services.
