A strategic partnership has been established to create railway services connecting Abu Dhabi City and the Al Dhannah region in the east of the UAE, close to the Kuwaiti border.

The collaboration involves Etihad Rail, the entity responsible for developing and operating the UAE National Rail Network, and a national oil company, ADNOC.

The agreement, signed at the oil company's headquarters, aims to improve rail connectivity between these key regions.

This agreement is a step towards achieving a Net Zero target by 2045, a commitment to sustainable transportation solutions and infrastructure development.

This partnership will facilitate the sharing of knowledge and expertise and explore launching dedicated railway services between Abu Dhabi and Al Dhannah. It opens opportunities for the oil company's employees to travel via the rail network in the future. It sets a precedent for other companies collaborating with Etihad Rail's national operations.

The collaboration aligns with national directives to enhance UAE's sustainable development, benefiting citizens and residents. It also stands as a benchmark for leveraging the success of the National Rail Network, one of the UAE's most significant infrastructure projects.

Etihad Rail's progress in developing passenger services is evident, as demonstrated by its recent financial agreements for financing railway passenger services and a deal with a Spanish company, CAF, to design and supply passenger trains.
