Akiem has inaugurated a new maintenance facility in Borlänge, Sweden, expanding its service network in Scandinavia. The site, operated by Akiem Maintenance & Services (AMS), is the company’s third in the country, following Hallsberg and earlier sites, and is intended to strengthen support for operators across Sweden and Norway, as well as cross-border corridors to Germany and Denmark.
The workshop spans 600 square metres and includes office space and two maintenance pits. Equipped with lifting jacks and cranes, it is set up for both preventive and corrective maintenance, allowing for more complex tasks to be completed on-site.
Akiem has maintained a presence in Sweden for 15 years and currently employs around 30 staff locally. The Borlänge facility was developed to diversify the company’s maintenance capabilities and improve turnaround times and reliability for leased locomotives operating in the region.
