Initial sketches of the proposed Berești Multimodal Logistics Complex, located at the Berești railway station in Ungheni, Moldova, have been unveiled as part of an ongoing feasibility study.

The study, supported by the USAID program focused on institutional and structural reforms in Moldova, aims to explore the development of this logistics hub. The presented sketches detail the envisioned infrastructure, including the layout of rail and road access points, container cranes, cargo handling platforms, and warehouses.

The feasibility study is currently evaluating the potential construction of the complex on an 18-hectare plot of state-owned land. Estimates suggest that the infrastructure could handle around 200,000 trucks annually, translating to the movement of approximately 4 million tons of goods.

The Berești terminal, right at the border with Romania, is intended to serve as a regional logistics node, improving Moldova's access to international transport corridors and integrating the country more effectively into the global transport and logistics network. The study is expected to conclude by the end of 2024, after which the Moldovan government may begin seeking investors for the project's construction.
