This project aims to improve travel times, with the goal of connecting Warsaw to other large Polish cities in less than 100 minutes.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced the launch of the Central Communication Port (CPK) Program, which includes the construction of a new airport in Baranów and the implementation of high-speed rail connections between major cities in Poland.

During the announcement, Tusk was joined by Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimcza, Deputy Minister Piotr Malepszak, and Government Plenipotentiary for CPK Maciej Lasek. The Prime Minister highlighted the need for an objective assessment of the project, which had been delayed to ensure it met the transport needs of the entire country. The revised project now plans to connect Poland's largest cities with a high-speed rail network.

The CPK program consists of three main components: the introduction of high-speed railways, the construction of a central airport in Baranów, and the development of LOT Polish Airlines to enhance its status as a leading carrier. The high-speed rail lines, referred to as the "Y" network, will link Warsaw with Łódź, Poznań, and Wrocław. Adjustments to the planned routes aim to minimize the number of necessary expropriations.

Maciej Lasek provided updates on the investment program's timeline, emphasizing the work done to make the project more realistic and coordinated with railway investments.

Filip Czernicki, President of the CPK Company, announced upcoming tenders for constructing a high-speed rail tunnel in Łódź and further sections of the rail line from Warsaw to Wrocław. Contracts for design and preparatory works are also expected to be signed shortly.

The CPK project has a planned capacity of 34 million passengers and an estimated cost of EUR 30.4 billion by 2032.
