The memorandum outlines several initiatives, including the repair and restoration of grain bins, the procurement of locomotives, reducing the cost of grain transportation, and improving cargo weighing and scanning processes.

JSC Ukrzaliznytsia and DAI Global LLC have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation as part of the Economic Support for Ukraine project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The partnership is aimed at promoting Ukrainian grain exports by rail. This cooperation follows the agreement between JSC Ukrzaliznytsia and Rail Cargo Austria to improve intermodal rail communication between Ukraine and Austria.

Key provisions of the memorandum include support for the repair and restoration of grain hoppers, the procurement of locomotives for grain wagon transport, the reduction of grain transport costs through improved cross-border cooperation on transport charges and regulations, joint initiatives to improve the efficiency of cargo weighing and scanning, and the modernization of transshipment facilities.

In addition, the MOU includes comprehensive design and construction services at priority border crossing points (BCPs) and other mutually agreed projects. These efforts are expected to increase Ukraine's capacity and rail network for the export of agricultural products.

"We are strengthening the extensive joint work on the development of EU-Ukraine railway grain logistics together with our partners, the USAID Project. Our common goal is to increase grain exports by developing solutions that will help improve and demonstrate the efficiency and profitability of Ukraine's rail export logistics," said Evgeny Lysyenko, Chairman of the Board of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia.

As part of this project, DAI Global will focus on supporting the revitalization and growth of Ukraine's infrastructure and key sectors of its economy, with a primary emphasis on the railway transport industry. This may encompass the modernization of border crossing infrastructure, the procurement of shunting locomotives, cargo weighing, and monitoring equipment, with a particular focus on grain transportation.
