The Swedish freight operator will transport input materials to the plant and outgoing steel products from the site.

Stegra has signed an agreement with Green Cargo for rail freight traffic between its steel plant under construction in Boden and ports in northern Sweden.

The agreement covers freight flows between Boden and the ports that Stegra plans to use for its logistics operations. Stegra has already signed agreements with the ports of Luleå, Skellefteå and Umeå for incoming and outgoing goods linked to the Boden plant.

Green Cargo is Sweden’s state-owned rail freight operator and the country’s largest freight railway company. Under the agreement, it will provide the rail connection between Stegra’s production site and the port infrastructure serving the plant.

Stegra said the agreement gives the company rail logistics capacity for its planned operations in Boden. Green Cargo said the assignment forms part of its large-scale rail logistics work for Swedish industry.
