The traffic originated at the Port of Constanța in Romania.

Moldova’s state railway CFM handled a container transhipment at Giurgiulești on 17 June 2026, transferring cargo from European standard-gauge wagons to 1,520 mm broad-gauge flat wagons for onward movement to Chișinău.

The shipment consisted of eight containers, each weighing 44 tonnes. The containers moved on 1,435 mm gauge to Giurgiulești, Moldova’s Danube port, before transfer to broad-gauge rolling stock for the domestic leg to the capital.

The operation is relevant because Moldova sits between the EU 1,435 mm network and the 1,520 mm system used on most of its national railway. Recent cross-border work has also focused on the Fălciu–Prut/Cantemir route, where a Romanian standard-gauge locomotive crossed into Moldova in April 2026 for testing.
