The CombiLink service operates four round trips per day and doubles capacity on the north–south axis across the Alps.

SBB Cargo has launched a new combined transport shuttle service between Dietikon and Stabio, strengthening rail freight links between Ticino and German-speaking Switzerland.

The shuttle connects the Dietikon terminal near Zurich with Stabio in southern Ticino and runs both during the day and at night. It is the first combined transport service implemented under SBB’s Suisse Cargo Logistics concept, which was presented in 2022 and has been in operational rollout since the beginning of 2026.

The Dietikon–Stabio service is being operated as a trial. SBB Cargo has stated that, if the shuttle reaches the required performance and utilisation levels, combined transport services will be expanded in the long term, including along east–west corridors.

According to SBB Cargo, scaling combined transport will require investment in new terminals and modern handling infrastructure, including automated crane systems, to enable efficient transfer of containers between road and rail. The realignment of combined transport is a response to increasing road congestion on key freight corridors.
