ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has announced optimizing its TransFER service between Paskov in the Czech Republic and Gdansk in Poland. The move is important in providing customers with reduced transit times and increased efficiency, thanks to RCG's move to 100% in-house performance.
The Paskov-Gdansk TransFER is the only direct rail link connecting the industrial heartlands of Moravia and northern Slovakia with the key Baltic Sea port of Gdansk. Recognized as a key European gateway, the port facilitates the vital flow of goods by sea, positioning Paskov as a central transshipment hub in Central Europe. By switching to its traction, RCG is taking full control of the transport chain, from the provision of trains to their arrival at the port and vice versa. This comprehensive logistics approach ensures improved route planning and overall efficiency throughout the journey.
The service, with two weekly round trips and an impressively short transit time of just one day, is specifically designed to meet the transport needs of heavy containers. In addition, this TransFER link offers direct shipping connections to key destinations in the Far East and Scandinavia, promising transit times on par with routes to Hamburg.
