The agreement, valued at EUR 800m (CAD 1.3bn), runs until 2031.

Alstom has signed a five-year contract extension with Metrolinx to continue operating and maintaining the GO Transit and Union Pearson Express (UPX) fleets in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.

Under the renewed contract, Alstom will provide operations and maintenance (O&M) services for GO Transit, the regional rail network serving the Greater Golden Horseshoe in Ontario, and UPX, which connects Toronto Pearson International Airport with downtown Toronto.

In the 2024–2025 period, Alstom’s team of nearly 1,300 staff managed 117,020 GO Transit rail trips and 56,494 UPX trips. The services recorded on-time performance above 97% on a mixed-use rail network shared with freight traffic.

The contract supports close to 1,300 direct roles in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton region, including drivers, conductors, customer service personnel and maintenance staff.

The order will be booked in the fourth quarter of Alstom’s 2025/26 financial year.

Alstom is currently delivering more than 25 active O&M projects worldwide. In Canada, the company employs over 5,000 staff and supplies rolling stock, signalling systems and maintenance services for projects in Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo, Ottawa, Vancouver, Edmonton and Montreal.
