AŽD has reinforced its presence in Poland with a EUR 24.1 million contract to modernize the Somonino–Gdańsk Osowa railway line.

Czech signalling company AŽD has won another important contract in Poland.  The company will design and supply signaling and communication equipment for the 28-kilometer railway line between Somonino and Gdańsk Osowa, under a contract valued at PLN 100 million (approximately EUR 24.1 million).

This is the eighth project for AŽD in Poland, where the company has established itself as a reliable partner in modernizing the railway infrastructure. The project is co-financed by the European Union. It will be carried out over the next 36 months in partnership with construction company PPMT. The cooperation is a follow-up to the successful completion of the modernization of the Glincz-Kartuzy line last year.

AŽD will supply a fully digital StationSWing ESA 44-PL signal box for two stations, 28 points, 105 signals, and four level crossings. In addition, telecommunications and passenger information systems will be developed in cooperation with Polish partners. One of the key aspects of the project is the reconstruction of Gdańsk Osowa station, where AŽD will cooperate with Alstom.

“Winning this contract confirms our strong position in the Polish market and the high level of reliability and expertise that our partners appreciate. Our successful cooperation with PPMT has paved the way for this new opportunity, which we greatly value,” said Zdeněk Chrdle, CEO of AŽD.
