The focus of the new agreement is on the supply of rail fasteners for key routes, particularly those linking Ukraine with EU countries.

In 2024, Switzerland will provide an additional EUR 10.3 million in grants for the rehabilitation of Ukraine's railway infrastructure. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved on 7 June 2024 the draft of a Supplementary Agreement to the Grant Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Swiss Confederation on Emergency Support for Railways signed in 2022.

The agreement provided for the financing of up to EUR 10.3 million in rail fasteners to improve and rehabilitate up to 270 km of Ukrainian railway infrastructure supplied by the Swiss company Schwihag AG. The fasteners were used on major lines including Kyiv-Odesa, Kyiv-Dnipro, Kyiv-Lviv, and Lviv-Uzhhorod.

The new contract provides for the supply of rail fasteners in 2024-2025 for the reconstruction of railway infrastructure, mainly along transport corridors bordering EU countries: Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, Poland, towards ports and the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).
